Class Summary
This ten-module on-demand course offers a thoughtful, in-depth exploration of a Jesus-centered path to respectful and loving inclusion of LGBTQ people, as well as Biblically-aligned support for full affirmation. We'll start with personal stories to build empathy and understanding. Key arguments for the traditionalist perspective will be evaluated, with an in-depth study of the scriptures used to justify exclusion and their historical, linguistic, and cultural contexts. The course will conclude with a Gospel-centered argument for full inclusion and affirmation. If, having read this plan, you think this course isn't going to be helpful to you, please email me, and I will refund your purchase price.
Starting with a good-faith desire to learn.
This is a complex topic that carries a lot of emotional weight and has real implications, sometimes life-and-death. For this material to be of value to you, it's essential to come with a good-faith desire to learn. This is not a course centered on debating viewpoints. There are plenty of places on the internet where you can do that. This is not an abstract topic to be discussed in a vacuum. Real lives of people we care about are at stake. I kept this in mind when developing the material, when teaching this class live, and in setting it up for your use. I ask you to come with that same attitude.
Homework
I designed this course with the intention of providing you with the best possible learning opportunity, with all the necessary resources. Every module includes suggested reading, both to prepare for that module's topic and to expand the conversation into other areas not covered in the classes. The more of the reading and resources that you engage with, the more deeply you will work through the material. This isn't a college course. There are no grades or deadlines — only your desire to learn and grow. I encourage you to take the time you need for each module so that you can work through all of the suggested material.
Contacting Me
I am available to you for questions and clarifications. Because the on-demand course is not part of a live cohort of students, I'm not "in the room" with you. However, I am available via email and in the Discussion Tab of this online course. One important note: my interaction with you is built on the assumption of good faith. I don't have the space or time for argumentation. During this course, you will hear more than 10 hours of my perspective, which covers most of what I need to say on the topic. I'm happy to offer clarifications and help you think through applications as needed.
The Context of the Archive Videos.
I taught this class live at my church in the fall of 2025. These classes were offered in person, with hybrid Zoom attendance available. The videos and audio recordings are the archive videos of these Zoom sessions. One of the "zoom windows" is the in-room camera where you'll see the other live participants and me. The other participants who attended via Zoom will appear only when they speak.
REFUND OFFER: If anything here doesn't align with what you expected or need, I am happy to refund you any registration fee you paid and disenroll you from the class.
